USAHA hosted an event bringing together U.S. and Venezuelan organizations and individuals to respond to the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela after the tragic earthquakes. The event occurred on July 09, 2026 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm ET online.
The meeting featured briefings from Dr Julio Castro, MD, Professor, Institute of Tropical Medicine at the University of Central Venezuela and co-founder of NGO Médicos por la Salud; Dr Johannes Daniel Elsas, MD, Strategic Lead of Health and Wellness in Latin America, International Federation of the Red Cross; Dr Simon Angeli, MD, and President of the Venezuela-American Medical Association (VAMA); Scott Clever, Commercial Officer, ANDEAN & Strategic Initiatives, US & Foreign Commercial Service – US Dept of Commerce.
While USAHA is chiefly composed of commercial companies, the focus of this call was how we, as US organizations, can size up and help in Venezuela’s time of need.
